MAKE IT RIGHT INITIATIVE
The communist country of Laos is a unique country, surrounded by trouble. 80% of its people live in rural areas.
There are two major challenges to introducing Christianity in Laos: Buddhism and Communism. Laos has been under the rule of communism for 50 years now (since 1975).
To make things even worse, the communist country of Laos has been the most bombarded country in the world. Life under communism in Laos is not easy! People are often imprisoned without a clear reason.
And there are many challenges to becoming a Christian in communist Laos. Christians make up only 1.7% of the population in Laos.
CPL has been helping in Laos in many ways throughout its nearly 25 years in ministry by:
- Fighting Human Trafficking
- Smuggling Bibles
- Building Toilet Churches that late become full Congregations
But there are a lot of challenges that newly baptized Christians face in Laos.
Most people in the communist country of Laos have little education.
After making the decision to follow Jesus through baptism, many new Christians are told “Either leave your faith or we will expel you from the house and you will lose everything!” Despite this condition, they choose to remain faithful to God and leave their home villages, and sometimes even their families.
At CPL International we believe that following Jesus should be a blessing, not a shame. And so for persecuted Christians in Laos, like this woman, we are MAKING IT RIGHT. CPL travels to these remote villages by any means necessary. We enable Christians who have lost their families, homes, and jobs to survive through self-enterprise by purchasing looms and materials for them to weave products they can sell. We also purchase some of their finished products, until we MAKE IT RIGHT.
Through this initiative CPL provides new Christians who have lost everything with:
- A decent place to live
- A decent way to make a living
- And a healthy spiritual environment
In the middle of persecution by communist and Buddhist Authorities, The MAKE IT RIGHT INITIATIVE brings HOPE when it’s needed the most.
